Between ocean and mountains, a hiking paradise in the Basque country
Put on your sneakers, hop on your bikes and set off to discover the breathtaking landscapes of the Basque Country, whether along the coast or a little further inland… Beware: wonder guaranteed!
The Basque Country abounds with hiking and cycling trails to suit all tastes. Here are a few must-sees, easily accessible from our campsite in the Basque Country.
And if you’re in the mood for adventure, we’ll be delighted to share our favorites with you and help you discover some of our more confidential itineraries.

From our campsite, the coastal path
The coastal path, more than 50 km long between Bidart and San Sebastián, invites you to discover the Basque coast. It passes right in front of our family campsite, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs. The route alternates between beaches, coves and village crossings.
We recommend that you follow this path southwards, towards the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, to discover its town center, market and long beach. The arrival at the Pointe de Sainte-Barbe, overlooking the whole bay, is simply magical. You can return by bus, directly from the bus station.
Another day, head north and discover Guéthary and Bidart, two charming coastal villages.
Cycling in the Basque Country
Want to discover the Basque Country’s must-sees from a different angle? Choose a bike!
Our campsite with swimming pool in the Basque Country is located on the edge of the Vélodyssée, which links Bayonne to Hendaye on its Basque section. Leave your car on site to avoid traffic jams and parking problems, then set off to discover the Basque coast by bike. It’s both a more environmentally-friendly and more pleasant way to enjoy this magnificent coastline.
Experienced cyclists can tackle the nearby Pyrenean passes and immerse themselves in the Basque countryside. For thrill-seekers, a mountain bike outing in the mountains will prove an exciting challenge.
The options are varied and suitable for all levels!
If you’d like to hire equipment, we have special rates with our partner (contact us for details).
Outdoor activities in the Basque Country
If your thirst for outdoor adventure hasn’t yet been quenched, the Basque inland offers a veritable playground for exploring new activities. Swap the salty waters of the ocean for freshwater experiences: discover the lakes of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle or Guiche and their aquatic bases offering a wide range of activities, or venture down the rivers at Bidarray with a session of canyoning or rafting.
Want to stay dry? Choose an accrobranche course in the heart of nature at Urrugne, an unforgettable horseback ride at Sare, or test your swing on one of the magnificent golf courses on the Basque coast. If you’re an outdoor sports enthusiast, the Basque Country will win you over as much as it won us over!
And, of course, we’ll be delighted to help you make the most of your stay.
